August 27, 2008 - If one has ever wondered just how popular the X-Men franchise truly is, consider this: Even the hugely disappointing X-Men: The Last StandX-Men Origins: Wolverine film shown at this year's Comic-Con, it is clear that fans want more X-Men films, and they want them now.
With Hugh Jackman currently hard at work reprising the role of Wolverine, alongside such beloved mutant characters as Sabretooth, Deadpool, Gambit and the Blob, we here at IGN Stars sat down to come up with a list of other X-characters worthy of their own film treatment.
Compiling such a list was no small feat, considering how interwoven the entire X-Universe is. For the most part, we stuck with the approach seemingly taken by the upcoming Wolverine film, with one or two strong central characters receiving the main focus, and a team of intriguing supporting players pitching in to grant the dream project that cohesive X-Universe feel found in the comics. In the cases of certain characters who already have film projects in the works, we simply state why and how such a character or characters would make for a great flick.
